We go through life as constant consumers.

Sometimes we are also creators, but most of the time, we take in what we need (or think we need), discarding the rest.

But how often do we look at something that is seemingly useless and decide to give it new life?

Take these bananas for example…

After a few days they start to look more like this…

When our oldest son, Caleb, was just five, he aptly called these spotted bananas “cheetah bananas” and we spent our weekends baking banana bread together. Now, I carry on this tradition with our youngest, Eden Rose, who loves being my kitchen helper!

Together, we turning something that others have cast off as “useless” and redeem it through a shared love of baking, giving it new life.

What was one tossed aside, is now purposeful and delicious!

I’m excited to share that my well-loved receipt for “Cheetah” Banana Bread is being published by Revell in their forthcoming book The Kitchen Devotional: Readings and Recipes to Feed Your Soul, Nourish Your Faith, and Bring Joy to the Table that will be releasing later this year on December 3, 2024.
