Last January, I shared two lists for what I’m saying “Yes” and “No” to in 2024.
If you’ve been following along, these will likely look familiar.
Since integrity and authenticity are two of my top core values, I thought it would be valuable to take stock in how I ACTUALLY lived this last year…
So here’s an honest report on how I did on a scale of “wildly successful” to “epic fail.”
Wildly Successful:
Cuddles
Local Coffee
Writing
Date Nights
Face Masks
Matching Pajamas
Listening to Audiobooks
Bible Study
Love
Moderate Progress:
Reading Before Bed
Deepening Friendships
Pickleball
Sleep
Healthy Eating

Adventure Days
Slow Sundays
Being Available
Fresh Flowers
Yoga
Saving Money
Intentional Art
Epic Fail:
Flossing More
I Let These Go Fully:
Late Night Snacking
Running
(Other People’s Drama)
Uncomfortable Shoes
Proving Myself
Overcommitting
I Tried Really Hard Not To:
Distractions
Overpacking For Trips
Negative Self-Talk
Going To Bed Too Late
Bad Attitudes
Saving Clothes That Don’t Fit
Social Media “Doom Scrolling”
Clutter
Working Too Late
Gossip
I’m Still Dong These:
Laundry
Being Too Busy
Instead of making more lists as we start a new year, I’m adopting a different practice instead.
I’m simply asking this one, simple question as I evaluate a decision:
How does this serve my life now and later?
While you can unpack this question and evaluate it on a number of levels, for me, it starts with getting really clear on my core values and current season of life:
How will saying “yes” be positive?
What values am I honoring with my “yes”?
Are there any BIG reasons not to say “yes” now?
How will I feel if I DON’T do this now? Notice any strong emotions or feelings of anticipated regret.
What will saying “no” or “not yet” allow me to do instead?
How has this year gone for you?
Here are a few reflection questions to consider as we wrap up 2024 (in case you missed it the first time or want to listen to it instead).
